Appealing a Moderation Decision
Our automated content check is fast but not perfect. If you believe an image was rejected unfairly, you can ask our team to take a manual look. This article walks through how the appeal process works.
When can you appeal
Appeals are available for images that were automatically rejected by our content check. You'll know an image is in this state because it carries a red Rejected badge in your library, and the upload form shows a panel listing the categories that triggered the flag.
Appeals are one-shot. Once you've submitted an appeal for a given image, you can't appeal it again. If our team's decision goes against you, that decision is final.
You cannot appeal:
- Images that are already approved (nothing to appeal)
- Images currently being processed (wait for the automated check to finish first)
- Images that are already in manual review (they're already with our team)
- Images that have been denied by a human reviewer (terminal)
How to submit an appeal
Right after a rejected upload, click Request Manual Review in the red panel:
Image did not pass moderation. Please review and try a different image, or request a manual review by our team.

[Request Manual Review] [Choose a Different Image]
You can also appeal a rejected image at any later time by uploading the same image again — it'll go through fresh moderation and you can appeal from the new attempt's rejection panel.
After you click the button:
- A confirmation message appears: "Pending review — Your image is now in our review queue. We'll email you once a decision is made."
- The image's status in your library changes from Rejected to In review (amber badge)
- The image stays hidden from your public site while it's under review
- You can close the panel and continue working
What happens next
Our moderation team receives your appeal in their daily queue. We aim to make a decision within two business days. Two outcomes:
Approved
If our team decides the image is fine after all, you'll get an email saying "Your image was approved." The image's badge in your library disappears (since it's now in good standing), and you can drop it into any block on your site. No further action needed from you.
Denied
If our team confirms the original rejection, you'll get an email saying "Your image was not approved." The email will include the categories that triggered the flag and any note our reviewer left explaining the decision.
The image stays in your library with a red badge but cannot be used on your site. A denial is final — you won't be able to appeal again, but you can always upload a different image.
What if the team takes longer than expected
If two business days pass and you haven't heard back, the image will continue to sit safely in your library with the In review badge. Our team has internal alerts to make sure nothing lingers in the queue indefinitely; if your appeal is taking unusually long, it's almost certainly because the team is double-checking the call.
You don't need to re-submit or contact us — re-submitting won't speed things up, and you can't appeal twice anyway.
Best practices
A few things that help our reviewers make a fair decision:
- Upload the actual image you intend to use. If you cropped or edited the image after rejection, upload the edited version — that's what we'll review.
- Don't try to circumvent moderation. Re-uploading the same content repeatedly, slightly altering an image to bypass the check, or appealing every rejection without consideration will work against you over time.
- Trust the categories. The categories shown in the rejection panel are usually right. If your image clearly fits one of them (e.g. it's a product photo of a firearm and "Weapons" was flagged), you're better off swapping for a different image than appealing.
