Why Was My Image Flagged

Every image uploaded to ShopStable runs through an automated content check before it can appear on your public site. Most images sail through and become live within seconds. Occasionally an image gets flagged. This article explains what happened, what the categories mean, and what your options are.

What "flagged" actually means

Our automated moderation looks at the content of each image and matches it against a few categories that we don't allow on businesses' public sites: things like adult content, graphic violence, depictions of weapons in certain contexts, illegal drugs, hate symbols, and similar policy-restricted content.

When the system finds a strong match in one of those categories, it marks the image as Rejected. You'll see a red panel like this right after uploading:

Image did not pass moderation. Please review and try a different image, or request a manual review by our team.

• Weapons

The list under the message shows which categories triggered the flag.

Where the image goes

A flagged image is not deleted. It stays in your library with a red Rejected badge so you can find it later if you want to appeal or just keep a record of what happened. It is, however, hidden from your public site — anywhere it was placed in a block, the block falls back to its empty state and won't display the image to visitors until the situation is resolved.

You'll see the rejected image in My Media marked accordingly. You can't drop it into a block until it's been approved.

What to do next

You have two options.

Try a different image

If the flag is fair — the image really does include content from one of the restricted categories — the simplest path is to pick a different image. Click Choose a Different Image in the rejection panel and upload something else.

Request a manual review

If you believe the flag was a mistake (false positives happen — automated systems aren't perfect), you can ask our team to take a human look. Click Request Manual Review in the rejection panel. This:

  • Sends the image to our moderation team's queue
  • Sends you an email confirmation
  • Moves the image's status from Rejected to In review in your library

See Appealing a Moderation Decision for a full walkthrough of the appeal process.

What about images currently processing?

If you see a Processing badge instead of a Rejected one, the image has just been uploaded and our moderation hasn't finished running on it yet. This usually takes a few seconds. If it's been more than a minute, refresh the page — the badge will update once moderation completes.

A note about technical errors

Very occasionally, the moderation system itself has trouble — a network blip, an unreadable file, anything that prevents a clean automated verdict. When that happens we treat it the same as a manual appeal: the image goes to our team's queue with an In review badge, and you'll get an email when a decision is made. You don't need to do anything; we'll come back to you.
