Collections With the Assistant#

The Website Assistant can do almost everything the Collections manager can — in conversation. It's the fastest way to get a body of content into a collection: describe what you have, and the assistant creates the structure and fills it.

What you can ask for#

Creating and filling:

"Set up a portfolio collection and add my six landscaping projects — I'll describe each one."

"Make a team collection with everyone from our About page."

The assistant picks the right starting shape, creates the fields, and adds your content as items. It stages new content as drafts and asks before publishing, so nothing appears on your site until you've seen it.

Managing what's there:

"Publish all the draft projects."

"Unpublish the Henderson project for now."

"Duplicate the team collection so I can try a different layout."

"Rename 'team' to 'Our People'."

The assistant can publish, unpublish, or archive many items in one pass, duplicate collections and items (copies always start as drafts), and rename things safely — renames never disconnect the grids on your site.

Recovering things:

"What's in my archived collections?"

"Restore the projects collection."

Archiving through the assistant is always recoverable. A restored collection's items come back as drafts — the assistant will offer to republish them once you've had a look.

Showing it on your site:

"Add my portfolio to the homepage."

The assistant adds a Collection grid to the page and connects it. From then on the grid stays current as the collection changes.

What the assistant is careful about#

Your live site. Published items appear on your website immediately — there's no separate website publish step for collection content. If your site is already live, the assistant confirms with you before publishing or editing published items, because visitors will see the change right away.

Changing fields. Restructuring a collection that your site displays can empty parts of those cards. The assistant asks before reshaping fields on a live collection.

What stays in your hands#

The assistant cannot permanently delete collections or items — by design, not by accident. It can archive (which you or it can always undo); deleting something forever is a decision the confirmation dialog in Tools → Collections reserves for you.

And as everywhere with the assistant: it can never publish your website. Collection items and site publishes are separate — the site publish button remains yours alone.
